Dreadful

Ugh...totally horrible...

Today at school, we were eating lunch (and by we, I mean the girl that is in both of my classes, we work out together at the new Wellness Center on campus between classes) at the cafe in the Center and the guy that makes our sandwiches (he's nice and we normally get something like a yogurt or bottled water daily from him) came over and sat down and was chatting with us. It is SO nice there now since it's summer and no one is on campus...I LOVE it there.

Anywho..back to the story...so we were talking about kids and I mentioned that my daughter was starting kindergarten in the fall and he looked over at me and said "wow! you sure have a big age difference in your kids!!" ha. He MEANT that I was the mother of the girl sitting next to me (SHE IS 20) and a 5 year old.

We laughed for 10 minutes and he felt like a total A*@! (he should) NO WAY I look old enough to have a kid in college. :) NO WAY...I keep telling myself. We went to music class awhile later and we told them the story! TOO funny.

(not really.....but it makes me feel better to laugh about it since people think I am that OLD!)

I sure LOVE college!

Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July!
We had a great day with my sister, her friend and my mom. We went to Franklin Park with friends and had a great time. The kids loved the fireworks display and had fun playing with their friends.

FOURTH OF JULY FESTIVITIES
The girls jumping off the diving board. They both have really progressed in the pool this year so far.... it's so fun to watch. Lauren was doing twists, jack-knifes and cannon-balls. Audrey was doing back flips off the bottom of the board, she has no fear.

At the park last night, AC brought a princess dress to wear and Lauren and I.

Nice slow day

What a great slow, relaxing day.

I think the kids and I needed a day that we didn't rush around doing something. We did make it to church and then took it slow the rest of the day! It was great! The kids went to bed early again tonight 8pm (in bed asleep at 7pm last night) .... I know this weekend tired them out. I guess being at the pool for a record 6 1/2 hours really tires them out. I will have to remember that.....

This week....
Two more 'normal' days...then SS (summer school) kicks in. ick. I will cherish the next two days, then at least I only have school for two days and then my sister will be here for the holiday weekend (yay!) I can't wait to spend some time with her. MRI on Friday night (another ick) Hopefully I am not claustrophobic, but who knows....I guess we'll see when I get in there...maybe they can just stick me in up to my knee... hee hee. Maybe??

Gotta go enjoy this quiet time on the couch...might be August before I can say that again.

Ciao.

Diving Board Fun!

Here are BOTH girls going off the board...cute isn't it?

Pool day

We headed to the Berryville pool today for some swimming with friends. It was a great time. Audrey flew off the diving board like 12 times and Lauren finally got up the nerve and did fantastic! I was SO happy that she did it. It was fun to watch my two little ones among all the BIG kids! The big kids were SO patient with the little ones and were very nice to them. It was sweet to watch.

Lauren jumping off ~~~~ Look how little AC looks with all the big kids! :)

The moms even got in on the action and did some dives/flips/flops/turns on the board during adult swim and the (our) kids thought we were cool. :) We thought we were pretty cool too!
Here's Audrey and Emerson watching the 'show'!

Lazy day countdown

I have started a lazy day countdown and we only have five more left..... the dreaded summer school starts on July 1st! ick. I truly love days like today with the girls!

We laid in bed all snuggly until 9am and then had breakfast, they played for awhile and I cleaned, then we headed to the recycling center and Walmart (fun). After lunch we set up the pool in the backyard and just had FUN! After dinner we went to a friends baseball game at the park, where the girls had NO interest in the baseball and just threw rocks and jumped off the bleachers, we didn't stay too long.

I LOVE days like today....
On a side note: Audrey does not want me messing with her hair, but she wants
her hair long, so I don't mess with it... :) She is so independent!

This is why I love Virginia...

Tonight we went to a great FREE open air
concert at the Berryville Park.

Souled Out was playing from 6-9pm and it was FANTASTIC!! We met some friends and brought pizza, snacks and beverages! It was a blast! Plus...it was right next to the playground, so the kids got to play too .... and dance....I taught Audrey to Cha Cha and it was a riot. She also atempted the Electric Slide and other dances on the dance floor....Lauren was a little too shy! :) Go figure! It was SO MUCH FUN! A perfect night for sitting out, hanging with friends and letting the kids dance and play!

Cortisone

Got my first shot of cortisone today!

YUCK!! Now I know why Cary was such a baby when he got his...they SUCK! It hurt having that 2" needle rooting around IN my knee. Ugh. I'm not even a scaredy cat with needles, they don't really bother me, but he was just jamming it all over and it made my stomach turn. I just thought I was going there for him to say "yes, let's get an MRI on that knee and see what's going on" not.....Hmm... let's give you a GIANT shot right in your knee.

YUCK!

Well, I hope it helps...we'll see, I'm back to the running pool tomorrow at 4pm. Then MRI next week and back to Dr. Wise (dad) in two weeks to check it out....

He did tell me "it's not looking good for your goal" (MC Marathon on Oct) He said "i'm just running out of time" (for training) I might have gotten a little teary sitting there and hopefully he thought it was just because of the impending needle poke. What a baby I am. :)

Keep your fingers crossed for me. I really really really really want to start running again! It's driving me nuts not being able to.....

Happy Father's Day!

Here are some photos from last night's party...

Cary & I (with Mike)
Isn't this picture a riot!
Mike Peplowski, former NBA player and SUPER duper nice guy! I ended up driving him and Chris home and he gave me a hug as a thank you (and since he saw my 13.1 sticker and his wife is a big marathoner....but I couldn't even get my arms around him....he's HUGE!!)

This morning I headed out to check out the garden and I was SO happy to see some color on my tomatoes! Yay!! Plus, check out my giant pepper....

Happy Father's Day to all Father's out there!! Especially MY dad!! :)
Here are the super cute frames that the girls made for Cary. They even picked out the pictures that went inside! It was really cute to watch their faces when Cary opened them up!
